Kiddush Hashem Every Day

With anti-Semitism once again rearing its ugly head in recent years, there is much effort being put forth to protect ourselves from it. KHDS is continuously enhancing our physical security and drilling our safety protocols. In the classrooms, we're educating our students in the classroom about our heritage and reinforcing our pride in being the 'am hanivchar', Hashem's chosen people—but we're actually being so much more proactive than that, and your continuous support of KHDS is helping us succeed at combating anti-Semitism on a daily basis.

Following the Daf Yomi Siyum Hashas this past January, there were several anecdotes making the rounds. Stories from law enforcement officials, letters from stadium managers and comments from ushers from MetLife Stadium in New York to Wembley Stadium in London went viral, all with a common theme—their respect and admiration for the well-behaved crowds of Jews and the Torah they were celebrating.

We, along with our children must appreciate that wherever we go, we have the extraordinary power to show the world the greatness of Hashem through our actions. But our ability to make a Kiddush Hashem shouldn't just be relegated to a once-in-seven-years-event, or to the largest stadiums in the world. Rather, there are daily opportunities in much smaller arenas and in the most mundane of situations. On our own soccer field and inside our gym, our students have several opportunities a week to make the right impression on children and parents from other schools that may otherwise have little or no exposure to Torah Jews. Our students regularly display their middot—and athletic prowess—leaving positive impressions that are changing the world one person at a time.

Furthermore, these opportunities present themselves every day in all corners of our campus. Whether it's picking up litter, holding doors open for adults and each other, standing when adults enter the room, and the language that they use to speak to each other, our students perform admirably on a regular basis.

These are just some of the fruits of our treasured partnership with our KHDS parents, raising another generation of Hashem's representatives. Our hope is that our children will continue showing the beauty of Judaism throughout the world, and act the part of the 'goi kadosh', His holy nation. In doing so, they will continue to change hearts and minds one at a time until the day that the whole world acknowledges Hashem's kingship and sees our redemption from this bitter exile with the arrival of Moshiach, may it come speedily in our days.
